Swachhata Pakhwada Guidelines Day wise Schedule

Swachhata Pakhwada, Guidelines are issued for Conducting the Swachhata Pakhwada in the state, Swachhata Pakhwada scheme launched by the Central Government of India, Swachhata Pakhwada conducted under Samagra shiksha in the states, MHRD Department of School Educaiton and Literacy Government of India communicated guidelines to conduct the Swachhata Pakhwada in this academic year, day wise activities of Swachhata Pakhwada, Schedule for conducting Swachhata Pakhwada communicated.

The Joint Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, Department of School Education and Literacy, New Delhi has communicated the latest guidelines for conduct of Swachhata Pakhwada. All District Educational Officers & Ex Officio Project Officers, Samagra shiksha in all districts of telangana state with request to ensure participation of students, teachers, parents, local people and representatives ect., whole heartedly in the Swachhata Pakhwada from 1st September to 15th September and make it successful.
All the DEOs are instructed to make necessary arrangements for conduct of the talent test(Painting, Essay writing and Talent test) at school level, Mandal level and District level along with the Swachhata Pakhwada program.

All other instructions will be given through the Video Conference time to time.

The Department of School Education & Literacy have been observing Swachhata Pakhwada every year from 2016 onward in coordination with the state governments and UT administrations. MHRD place on record our appreciation for the excellent work done by the states in making Swachhata Pakhwada of this department successful.
as per the calendar of Swachhata Pakhwada for this year circulated by cabinet secretariat. Government of India and Ministry of Jal Shakti Department of Drinking Water & Sanitation (DDWS). Govt. of India. The Swachhata Pakhwada for this department is from 1st September to 15th September.
As you are aware, the Department of School Education & Literacy have been observing Swachhata Pakhwada every year from 2016 onwards in coordination with the State Governments and UT administrations. Govt of India place on record our appreciation for the excellent work done by the states and UTs, every year in making Swachhata Pakhwada of this Department a successful mass movement involving nearly 100 million children and other functionaries besides members of the community.

Swachhata Shapath may be organised by all schools and Educational Institutions wherein all students and teachers/staff may participate.


Holding meeting of SMCs/PTAs or between parents and teachers in the first week of the Pakhwada to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children and teachers; and to encourage and inspire them to continue with the good practices for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as home.
Teachers to inspect sanitary facilities in every school/institution and make proposal/plan for repair and upkeep of the facilities if required.

Competitions can be held in districts/blocks/clusters for clean and well maintained premises and toilets in schools.

Essay/Quiz competition for students on Cleanliness and Hygiene practices in school.

Painting competition for students, teachers and parents.

Debates on Swachhata.

Swachhata awareness messages to be posted on the website of the Organisation/schools. Alternatively. photographs on Swachhata may be displayed in schools.
For observing the Swachhata Pakhwada in a benefiting manner for focused participation resulting in cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene drive and related activities in schools with active involvement of students, teachers and community.

Guidelines on conduct of Swachhata Pakhwada

1st Day (01-09-2021)
Swachhata Shapath Day:

Swachhata Shapath function may be organised wherein all students and teachers/staff may participate. Children to speak about Swachhata in the morning assembly.

Class exercise, where every child will promise to take up one activity for personal/school/community/home cleanliness.

Swachhata awareness message to be posted on the website of the Department, organisation or Schools.

Electronic banners may be created and uploaded on the departmental/state web portals to highlight the observance of the Swachhata Pakhwada and create awareness for Swachhata.

Upload the number of students who took Shapath and the number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

2nd Day (02-09-2021)
Swachhata Awareness Day

Holding meeting of SMCs/PTAs to highlight the importance of cleanliness and sanitation among children, parents and teachers and to encourage and inspire them for hygiene and sanitation in school as well as home.

Teachers to inspect sanitary facilities in each and every comer of school institution and make proposal/plan for upkeep of the facilities.

Extensive cleaning of toilets, MDM kitchen, classrooms, fans, doors, windows, bushes in the campus and surrounding area to be undertaken.

Organising camp activities to promote behavioural change to keep surrounding clean with special focus on awareness regarding plastic pollution, open defecation, deforestation, water wastage, dust/smoke free air and other anti-environmental practices.

Upload number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

3rd Day (03-09-2021)
Community Outreach:

All teachers may visit nearby villages to address the local communities on Swachhata with special focus on sustaining toilet usage, and taking up waste management work in their areas. 

They may also sensitise local community to stop wasting of water resources and to make them aware about water conservation and ongoing Jal Shakti Abhiyan.

Increased focus may be given on community participation for the Swachhata Abhiyan in schools/institutions and tcachers may also be involved in undertaking cleanliness and awareness drives in nearby areas.

Teachers and students in association with local representatives should propagate the theme of swachhata pakhwada among public in local areas.

4th Day (04-09-2021)
Green School Drive:

Create awareness/importance of Eco Clubs in schools.

Every school may arrange for dustbins. Dustbin with Blue and Green-colour must be used for Recycled and Unrecyclable waste respectively in view of making children aware about classification of wastes.

Planting of-trees in and around school premises and encourage children for gardening.

Reuse of waste material.

Initiatives to curb green house effect. Weeding out/recording of the old files, records as per procedure.

All kinds of waste material like broken furniture. unusable equipment, defunct vehicles etc. should be completely removed from the premises of schools/institutions.

5th and 6th Day (06-09-2021 and 07-09-2021)
Swachhata Participation Day:

Essay/Quiz competition for students on cleanliness and Hygiene practices in schools.

Painting competition on Swachhata.

Debates on Swachhata with emphasis on Gandhi Ji and Swachhata.

Skit, Poem-making on Swachhata.

Upload number of schools participated on Google tracker and photos, videos and publicity material on Google drive.

8th Day (08-09-2021)
Hand Wash Day:

Create Awareness on the need for proper hand wash in daily life.

Children should be taught proper method of hand washing before and after eating.

Barrier free access to the drinking water and toilet facilities for Divyang students may be reviewed and ensured.

Check wastage of water.

Water from hand washing unit to be channelled to school gardens.

9th Day (09-09-2021)
Personal Hygiene Day:

Audio visual programme to be undertaken to motivate students/employees and other for maintaining cleanliness.

Students will learn proper way of cutting and keeping nails clean.

Learning about direct impact of hygiene practices on overall health.

Supplementary Book material on Hygiene.

Awareness on menstrual hygiene among girls of Classes VI to XII.

10th and 11th Day (11-09-2021 and 12-09-2021)
Swachhata School Exhibition Day:

Photographs, paintings, cartoons, slogans etc. on Swachhata activities may be displayed in schools. Parents and community members may be invited to attend the exhibition.

State may document some of these exhibitions.

Making artifacts using local recycled-raw material for storage of waste i.e., artistic dustbins using local skills promoting their culture.

14th and 15th Day (13-09-2021 and 14-09-2021)
Prize Distribution Day:

Prize distribution for participation of children, teachers and parents in competitions viz. Painting, Essay, Debate and Quiz to encourage Swachhata.

All Schools/educational institutions may sum up their activities and work undertaken during the Pakhwada and select best activity for forwarding to distric and state authority for uploading on the website.

The best performing states/organizations may also be given prizes based on their participation in the Swachhata Pakhwada.
